Getting Started


Inside your Soft Robotics Development Kit 2.0 you’ll find everything you need for an infinite set of finger configurations and spacings to test and validate the ideal Soft Robotics solution. set up


—  CREATE  —

STEP 1

Select tool hub based on the number of actuator modules you want to use to grasp the object. Attach each actuator module to a rail section using the 7mm nut driver (leave loose) and then fasten each rail to the tool hub using the 2.5mm hex screwdriver (fully tighten).

STEP 2

Configure spacing of tool to fit your application needs by sliding the actuator modules on the rail sections until properly located and then fasten using the 7mm nut driver. Be sure to fully tighten both 7mm bolts.

STEP 3

Attach pneumatic manifold to the end of any rail section on the tool hub using the 2.5mm hex screwdriver.

STEP 4

Using the provided 6mm tubes, plumb each actuator module to the pneumatic manifold. Insert the provided 6mm plugs into any unused port on the manifold. Your custom tool is now complete.


— CONNECT —

STEP 5

Attach the Universal Mounting Plate to your robot using the appropriate socket head cap screws (provided) then connect the custom tool to the Universal Mounting Plate using the provided hardware and the 2.5mm hex screwdriver.

STEP 6

6a: Connect a source of clean, dry compressed air to the P supply port (push to connect) of the SRCU G2 using the provided 12mm tubing.

6b: Connect the 10mm manifold port of your custom tool to the 12mm A output port of the SRCU G2 using the provided 10-12mm push to connect coupler. Optimal performance is obtained by minimizing the length of the 10mm tube section.

 

STEP 7

Thread SRCU G2 Signal Cable connector onto J1 of the SRCU G2. Strip insulation off individual wires and then hook up to your robot controller or PLC.

STEP 8

Fasten SRCU G2 Power Cable to J3 of SRCU G2. Strip black insulation from cable and then individual wires and hook up to a 24V DC power supply

Power “ON” the SRCU G2 and it should begin to run its Power-On Self-Test (P.O.S.T.).

— CONFIGURE —

STEP 9

Install software and driver.

STEP 10

Fasten USB cable to J2 of SRCU G2 and then plug into computer’s USB port.

Launch app and connect to SRCU G2 by clicking on Connect/Disconnect until green.

 

STEP 11

Configure one or more profiles by adjusting Grip Strength and Opening Amount and be sure to click 

“Save Profile” to retain changes.

 

USING THE SYSTEM

Use your robot controller or PLC to select the SRCU G2’s active profile by setting the (3) profile select signal lines to the appropriate state. Actuate and de-actuate your custom tool by having your robot controller or PLC set the Trigger Signal to the HIGH or LOW state respectively.
