Soft Robotics Inc. is a venture-backed startup in Bedford, MA that integrates patented soft actuator technologies, a proprietary vision system, and artificial intelligence stack into robotic gripping, and autonomous manipulation solutions that can handle items of varying size, shape and weight with high-speed, precision, and a human-like touch. By leveraging the science of soft robotics, it is now possible to automate facilities that have traditionally depended upon manual labor for bin picking, order fulfillment, and other complex pick and place tasks. This technology is proven in manufacturing installations today and enabling new robotic solutions for the food supply chain, advanced manufacturing applications, and the e-commerce logistics industry.

We are looking for an experienced hands-on Corporate Controller with a demonstrated history of enabling success in a variety of high growth environment startups in several industries. Skilled in Revenue Recognition, NetSuite/Quickbooks, Salesforce.com, SaaS, Payroll, HR, Treasury Management, Inventory Management, Internal Controls, Auditing and Taxes.

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

  • Owns the monthly financial closing process, including all associated reconciliations Plan, direct and coordinate all accounting operational functions

  • Payroll review, reconciliation, reporting and data entry.  Coordinating and preparing internal and external financial statements

  • Revenue Recognition accounting and deferred revenue schedule maintenance Coordinating activities of external auditors

  • Invoicing, purchase orders, and  payables and receivables management, including collections

  • Managing corporate credit card transactions

  • Production of monthly flash report

  • Maintenance of cash schedules and cash flow forecast

  • Maintenance of Cap Table and associated option grant and stock based compensation accounting

  • Coordinate/manage activities of external providers such as insurance, banking, CPA firm

  • Provide management with information vital to the decision-making process

  • Assist in managing the budget and forecasting process

  • Assess current accounting operations, offering recommendations for improvement and implementing new processes

  • Evaluate accounting and internal control systems

  • Administer and manage operating systems such as QuickBooks, Bill.com, Fishbowl, and Expensify. Evaluate the effectiveness of accounting software and supporting database, as needed

  • Reconcile inventory and managing COGS

  • Oversee regulatory reporting, frequently including state/municipality filings as well as Federal filing tax planning and compliance


Experience/Education Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business Administration, Finance or related discipline

  • 10+ years of accounting experience in a technology/manufacturing business required

  • Experience driving accounting processes, reporting, and systems in support of startup environment

  • Demonstrated success collaborating with stakeholders in Finance, Legal, Services and Sales and an ability to continuously improve processes and develop efficiencies.

  • Experience in developing and improving financial systems which produce useful operating metrics.

  • Advanced quantitative skills with a passion for using data to drive better decision-making

  • Strong track record of building and managing successful teams

  • Excellent presentation and communication with C-level executives

  • Hands-on approach with attention to detail, organization, reliability and a “get it done” attitude
